Where is my car?
If you think that your car has been towed away, you will need
to contact your local police station.
For all London Boroughs however, there is a central organisation
provided by London Councils by the name of TRACE. This is a free
24-hour call centre, which locates cars that have been removed
from any London street. They will provide you with the location
of the vehicle, why it was removed, and how it may be recovered.
TRACE handles nearly 15,000 calls each month. Their telephone
number is: 0207 747 4747.
The companies that are contracted to remove vehicles in London
are supposed to enter the details onto the TRACE system once removal
has taken place, and again when the vehicle arrives at the pound.
This is so that you are able to locate the vehicle as soon as
possible. If you do encounter problems where there has been a
delay in informing TRACE, by visiting our Legal
Cases section in the Downloads
area you will see that there has been a Parking Adjudicators ruling
on this, with the Local Authority being directed to refund the
release fees as the delay was found to be unacceptable.
Transport for London (TfL) have their own vehicle pound. The
address is:
