About wheelclamping and removal.
The number of cars that are clamped or removed to the pound
is at the highest level that it has ever been.
London Boroughs of course have the
highest number, with recently published figures showing that 221,540
vehicles were clamped of which 74,175 vehicles were removed to
the vehicle pound.
The London Boroughs with the highest clamping and removal rates
are:
Westminster: 60,700 vehicles
Camden: 30,903 vehicles
When your vehicle should not be wheelclamped etc.
If you return to your vehicle to find that wheel clampers are
in the process of clamping your car, you should note the following:
• If you return to the vehicle before the padlock
is closed, the clamp should be removed.
• If you return to the vehicle after the clamp
has been removed, but before the wheels of the vehicle have left
the ground, the vehicle must be returned to you.
• If you return to the vehicle while it is in
the process of being lifted, the vehicle must be returned to you
if any of the wheels of the vehicle are still on the ground.
(If a “half-lift” vehicle is being used, the vehicle
must be returned if either of the two wheels is still
on the ground.) The PCN should still be enforced in the normal
manner.
