How do I complain about the bailiff?
If you have a complaint, possibly because you feel that the costs
incurred are very high and/or unnecessary, or you have concerns
about the manner in which the Distress Warrant was enforced by the bailiff, you can
write to the Clerk to the Justice at the relevant Magistrates
Court that instructed the bailiff.
However, the Ministry of Justice have also appointed 7 individual Managers at HM Court Service to receive complaints (one for each area of the country). As the names of these individuals may change it is recommended that you contact our office for full details to include the e-mail address of the relevant person.
Always ensure that you send
your letter by Registered mail and make sure that you keep a copy.
If you wish to complain about the level of fees charged, please
note, there is no provision for making a Detailed Assessment application
in the Magistrates Court.
If you have concerns above the level of fees charged you will
find in our Downloads area that we
have a section entitled Magistrates Courts where you will see that we have provided details of the fees that
the bailiff should be charging you.
