Excessive overcharging.
Sadly, this is the most common area of dispute and usually concerns
charges for the following:
• alledged visits, that did not actually take place.
• levy fees, where no levy was made etc.
• walking possession fee, where no walking possession has
been signed.
• attendance to remove fees, and or: van fees
The fees that a bailiff can charge are set by the Government under Statutory Regulations.
Unfortunately however, incorporated into the fee scale is the
provision for the bailiff to charge what is described as “reasonable
costs” for attendance fees etc. It is the interpretation
of what is “reasonable” that is the cause of most
disputes. In the Bailiffs Fees section
of our Downloads area you will find
details of all the fees that can be charged.
